It depends on the passport you will use and the purpose of travel. Many tourists need a visa, some nationalities are exempt, and some travel documents require advance approval. Check the nationality guide and visa route before paying or relying on visa on arrival.
Yes. A valid Tanzania visa can cover travel to both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. Select the place where you will first clear Tanzanian immigration and keep the itinerary consistent. Zanzibar also has a separate mandatory inbound travel-insurance requirement for foreign visitors.
Many eligible passport holders can use visa on arrival at an official entry point, but it is not available to every nationality or travel document. Online application is recommended because category, document and payment questions can be handled before departure. Advance-approval cases should not rely on arrival processing.

Prepare the passport biodata page, a separate recent passport photograph, a return or onward ticket and the first accommodation, host or tour-operator reference. The exact list can change with nationality, visa category, destination and travel purpose.
Plan to travel with a passport valid for at least six months from the intended arrival date and with at least one unused visa page. Apply with the same physical passport you will use for the flight and at immigration.
Apply when your passport and principal itinerary are stable and leave a meaningful correction buffer. No. Ordinary tourism permission does not authorise local employment. Paid work, long-term study, structured volunteering, internships, research and some professional assignments may require another visa or permit route. Resolve the real purpose before payment.
Transit Visa is for a genuine short passage through Tanzania to another country, supported by onward travel and permission for the final destination where required. It is not a lower-cost substitute for a Tanzania holiday or stopover used for tourism.
Important submitted details may not be freely editable. Review names, passport number, nationality, birth date, visa category, arrival point and travel dates before final submission. Contact support with the application ID if you discover a material mismatch.
Use the application-status page with both the application ID and the email address used in the form. Draft recovery links are also sent to that email when available. Never send unnecessary passport details through an unsecured support message.
No. A payment receipt or pending application is not a visa grant notice. Keep the verified payment record and application ID, then wait for the actual decision. Do not edit a receipt or present it as approval.
No. Good preparation reduces avoidable errors but cannot guarantee approval, a fixed decision date, airline boarding or admission. Visa issuance and entry clearance remain decisions of the competent Tanzanian authorities.
