Tanzania Multiple Entry Visa: prepare your application online
Travelling on a US passport for a holiday, or returning regularly for a qualifying family or company purpose? Organize your Multiple Entry application, see the full price and continue with the correct document prompts.

Choose the passport you will travel with. Your selection carries into the form so you enter it once.
Insurance and optional preparation upgrades are separate. Review the complete application and payment details before you pay.
Who should select Multiple Entry?
US passport holders visiting for tourism or holiday use Multiple Entry even for one trip. For other passports, the category is intended for qualifying repeated visits supported by the relevant evidence. Booking two holidays does not automatically establish eligibility. Referral applicants should review their nationality requirements before choosing this category.
The purpose matters as much as nationality. A US visitor performing a short technical assignment should check the Business Visa route. A visitor moving to Tanzania for employment or residence needs the appropriate permission. A longer validity period does not turn Multiple Entry into a work permit.
Examples help separate similar situations. A US couple visiting the Serengeti and Zanzibar during one holiday selects the US tourism purpose. A non-resident director returning to the registered company prepares directorship evidence. A parent visiting a resident child regularly needs relationship and host documents. In each case, the form and attachments should tell the same factual story.
Documents depend on why you need repeated entry
Start with a readable passport information page, a separate recent portrait and return travel evidence. Keep the first stay and itinerary beside the form. Then prepare the additional evidence for the actual purpose:
- US tourism: passport, recent photograph and return ticket. Use the passport carried on the trip.
- Non-resident company director: company covering letter, registration/compliance certificate and BRELA search evidence of directorship.
- Qualifying regular family visits: invitation, relevant marriage or birth certificate and the family host's applicable identity or residence document.
- Institutional or consultancy visits: the purpose-specific ministry/institution letter or authority permission required for that category. An unrelated commercial invitation is not a substitute.
Our document planner lets you organize these categories without uploading files. For the application, upload genuine evidence that identifies the right person and purpose. If an organization uses a trading name, explain its connection to the registered entity rather than leaving two unexplained names.
Keep a separate file for every passport holder. A shared booking or family payer does not merge applications. Check names on travel evidence, use the same monitored email consistently and keep each application reference with its corresponding passport.
How the online application works
- Select the passport and purpose. The starting choice above carries into the application. US tourists see the tourism purpose; non-US applicants select their qualifying repeated-visit purpose.
- Add the journey. Enter the intended arrival, actual first destination, stay and accommodation. Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar belong in one coherent itinerary.
- Prepare the identity file. Upload the passport once, check any reader suggestions, and enter names and dates exactly. Saved documents stay with the draft.
- Review and pay. Check your answers, relevant attachments and total before payment. Save the private return link if you need to finish later.
The $189 total includes a guided application, document-readability and consistency checks, and application communication. Review the fee summary before payment. Optional preparation upgrades are displayed separately. Epoint card checkout charges AZN and shows the converted amount before authorization.
Government review determines the outcome and grant conditions. Apply with time for clarification; a departure date does not create a promised decision deadline. After a grant is received, compare its passport number and permitted dates with the passport before travel.
Validity and regional travel: keep the itinerary clear
Multiple Entry may be valid for up to 12 months, with visits limited to up to three months under the published category. Read the actual grant and entry conditions. Do not plan an uninterrupted year in the country or assume ongoing employment is permitted.
A mainland safari followed by Zanzibar does not itself require a second Tanzania visa. An itinerary leaving Tanzania for another country should be checked against the issued conditions and the other country's entry requirements. Repeated travel alone should not be used to select a category that does not fit the passport and purpose.
Multiple Entry application questions
Why does a US tourist need Multiple Entry for one holiday?
The published nationality rule directs US tourists to Multiple Entry. It is not an optional upgrade based on how many border crossings you booked. See the US passport guide for the wider travel preparation.
Can a non-US tourist simply pay extra for Multiple Entry?
Payment does not establish eligibility. Non-US applicants need justifiable evidence for the corresponding category. Check the specific purpose before starting or paying.
What is the total application price?
The current total is $189 USD per applicant. Optional upgrades and insurance are separate. The application shows the fee summary before payment. View application and payment details.
Can I save the application and return?
Yes. After entering the initial details, save progress and keep the secure return link private. A missing document can be added when you return; check the final summary before submission.
Does the total include insurance?
No. Inbound insurance is a separate arrival requirement. Check the official provider for the first point of entry and any applicable exemption.
